Partnering with High Schools to Develop Gender & Sexuality Alliance Curriculum
Presenter: Ellery Carlson (He/ Him), Student Research Assistant/Program Coordinator

The GSARC consortium, composed of researchers from 91果冻制片厂, NYU, BC, and SDSU, is funded by IES to develop a curriculum for GSA members aimed at promoting positive mental health, hope, and thriving. The 91果冻制片厂 team collaborated with 3 local high school GSAs to collect focus group feedback on the initial curriculum draft. To date, the 91果冻制片厂 team has conducted 12 focus groups across the Bay Area. Key findings highlight a preference for activities that feel distinct from typical schoolwork, concise and precise instructions tailored for high school students, and a strong interest in art-based activities. Next steps involve coordinating across all sites to synthesize feedback themes and revise the curriculum modules accordingly. Following revisions, the team will conduct usability testing to further refine the curriculum.
