My freshman year was twice as hard as it could鈥檝e been if I had only used on campus resources such as Peer Connections and got involved in extracurriculars/events to meet other students and find my own support system.
  • My best strategy for college success is鈥� to organize your tasks for the day. College itself can be overwhelming even without assignments or finals, so it鈥檚 important to not stack things on top of each other and to give yourself enough time to get everything done.

  • When I started at 91果冻制片厂, I wish I had known鈥� that it is okay to ask for help, don't wait until you are struggling: instructors, counselors, and tutoring centers are waiting to guide you, but you need to ask and don't be afraid to access resources like the Career Center, peer mentoring, and workshops they can make a difference, even in your first semester.

Speaking with them after class, sending emails, or visiting office hours can each be extremely valuable. By doing this, you鈥檒l become more comfortable reaching out to them in the future for help or job recommendations. This practice is especially important for assignments with more subjective grading criteria. By implementing your professor鈥檚 feedback, you are showing that you are open to criticism and improvement, which can tremendously help your final grade.
  • My best strategy for college success is鈥� finish busywork early when given the chance. Sometimes, teachers will post homework for the semester or other small assignments well before their due dates. Complete these early, and you鈥檒l have more than enough time to focus on projects, essays, and studying. This is especially helpful if you have trouble balancing multiple commitments, as I do. It can be extremely rewarding to get ahead of schedule.

  • My best strategy for college success is鈥� make friends in every class. You never know when you might need help until suddenly, it's too late to email your professor. Always go to office hours, most professors are cool and go above and beyond to help you and recommend you resources and opportunities.
